I don’t know what to say that hasn’t already been said, but I can’t let this day pass without thinking about the men and women who lost their lives on a Sunday morning 81 years ago today at Pearl Harbor.

What I can say is I see a concerning trend in our nation, in which dates that were said to “live in infamy” are no longer significant. Heck, when I punch Dec. 7 on my iphone calendar, nothing comes up. But Halloween and the end of Daylight Saving Time are on there, by golly!

How sad is that?

So, I guess it’s up to people like me, who weren’t yet around before Dec. 7, 1941, but read about it in our history books and had family members who went to war after that date, to keep reminding and teaching others about the sacrifices that were made to protect and make this the greatest country in the world.

I pray to God that they listen.

And I pray for those men and women we lost …
