Saturday Aug. 7 SUMMER HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT

WHEN: Signups will take place at the Fisher’s Landing Resort Bar at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug.

6th. Teams report to their horseshoe pit on the sandbar at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7. WHERE: Fisher’s Landing Resort for signups; pits and canopy will be set up on the first largest sandbar after the turn on the Colorado River heading north past Ferguson

GOING ON: A horseshoe tournament to benefit Amberly’s Place; each player will receive an event T-short and wristband for lunch. Trophies will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams.

Thursday Aug. 12 RESTAURANT TAKEOVER

WHEN: 4-7 p.m.

WHERE: Wheezys Grill & Sports Bar, 11732 S Fortuna Road GOING ON: Wreaths Across America will host a fundraiser featuring food, raffle prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Wheezys will donate 10% of its proceeds to the cause. The funds will be used to purchase wreaths to place on veterans’ graves at Christmastime at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, as well as the Yuma and Sunset Vista Cemeteries.

Saturday Aug. 28 SHOW ‘N SHINE & SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE

WHEN: 5-9 p.m.

WHERE: Caballero Park Ramada #11 on Desert Sun Drive

GOING ON: Car lovers gather to support local youth. The United Dreams Car Club will collect school supplies, and the fees for entering cars and bikes will go toward helping local youth. COST: $10 entry fee
