“An Animal Saved My Life” (A&E Network — series premiere, July 6)

Fox Sports broadcaster Curt Menefee hosts this new halfhour series (premiering with two back-to-back episodes) showcasing acts of heroism performed by different yet equally gallant members of the animal kingdom. Drawn from headlines, viral videos, surveillance footage and interviews with grateful humans, the show highlights moments ranging from the heartwarming to the pulse-pounding. It’s common knowledge that most pet owners regard their animal companions as family members, but often these caring critters also act as saviors of a human life.

“Battle on the Beach” (HGTV — series premiere, July 11)

HGTV superstar Ty Pennington (“Rock the Block”), Alison Victoria (“Windy City Rehab”) and Food Network’s Taniya Nayak (“Restaurant Impossible”) serve as mentors to three teams of up-and-coming flippers in this competition that plays out in beautiful Muscle Shoals, Ala. Seaside home improvement is the name of the (literal) game as each episode features a trio of teams across three identical 1,500-square-foot properties who execute a renovation challenge they hope will impress judges Mike Holmes and Mina Starsiak Hawk. The winning team earns $50,000 toward their next flip.

“The Real Housewives of Potomac” (Bravo — season premiere, July 11)

Entrepreneur Mia Thornton brings a boss mentality and a conviction that respect is earned, not given, as she joins the cast as a new housewife in the Season 6 premiere. Elsewhere, returning housewife Gizelle Bryant focuses on building a happy home with her children as things with her ex-husband, Jamal, continue to deteriorate, while an overcommitted Robyn Dixon lets her crowded schedule cause tensions with her fiancé, Juan. Karen Huger, Ashley Darby, Candiace Dillard-Bassett and Dr. Wendy Osefo also return.
