“THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY: SEASON ONE”

The comic-book-inspired Netflix superhero series, about seven numbered adoptees who unite for both personal and bigger reasons, comes to home video. Elliot

(Colm Feore) death while an apocalypse approaches, giving them all the concerns they can handle. Tom Hopper, David Castaneda, Emmy Raver-Lampman,

“THE UNHOLY”

Though his television fame from “The Walking Dead” and “Grey’s Anatomy” has elevated his career to another level, Jeffrey Dean Morgan was a familiar movie presence before that. In this horror tale that includes genre veteran Sam Raimi among its producers, the actor plays a troubled journalist hoping for a professional boost from profiling a deaf youngster (played by Cricket Brown) who appears able to perform literal miracles. As he goes about his research in New England, he starts to encounter phenomena that could prove much more harmful than beneficial. Adapted from the James Herbert book “Shrine,” the melodrama – which, as with so many projects, had its production interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic – also features Katie Aselton, William Sadler, Diogo Morgado and Cary Elwes.
