Dr. Trinidad Lim, a nephologist at Yuma Nephrology, is the health care professional we profile in this edition of 10 Minutes With.

How long have you been practicing health care in Yuma, and did you practice anywhere before Yuma?

I have been practicing Nephrology in Yuma since January 2005. Before that, I was also a nephrologist in Alma, Mt. Pleasant and Midland, Mich., for about five years following the completion of my fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

What is the philosophy that guides you in serving patients or clients?

A patient is a person and not a disease, and as such has the right to be treated with respect and dignity, but should also then be an active participant in his treatment plan and recovery. Medicine is a two-way street.

What is something that everyone can do on their own to improve their health?

Keep your doctor’s appointment and be open and

What are your hobbies?

Hiking and eating. forthcoming with the doctor about why you do or choose not to do certain things and about your obstacles to compliance. And, actively help formulate your own health goals.

What is your favorite place to be?

A solitary spot where I can hear and see the waves and feel the breeze.

I am very bad at charades and trivia.

What is your passion or are your passions?

Participating in a medical mission.

What are your favorite foods?

Ramen, Jjigae (Korean stew), cold soba with dipping sauce, pancit.
