“YUMA IS TO ag what Detroit is to cars and what Silicon Valley is to computers.”

Those words by Dr. George Frisvold, an agricultural economist with the University of Arizona, kick off a video viewed nearly 20,000 times within a twoweek span.

The viral video called

“Yuma – The Winter Salad Bowl” debuted at the Feb. 23 Harvest Dinner. Attendees immediately started sharing the video link, which was the goal of those who produced it.

The 7-minute, 19-second video highlights the importance of protecting Yuma’s water and its connection to Yuma’s agriculture industry and economy. It was a joint effort of the Yuma Fresh Vegetable Association, Yuma County Agriculture Water Coalition and Yuma Center of Excellence for Desert Agriculture.

“We all decided to debut the video at the Harvest Dinner as we felt it was the perfect setting with the perfect audience for this amazing project to be shared,” said Amy Karvoski, manager of the Yuma Fresh Vegetable Association.

“The more people that see it, the more they will be able to see what we do and how we protect and promote ag in Yuma and surrounding areas,” she added.
