The lowdown:

Ivan, who was named Yuma Sun all-region as both a kicker and punter, went 2-for-2 — with a long of 38 yards — on field goals, and knocked in 35 of his 40 extra point attempts. His accurate kicking helped get the Rams to the 2A state playoffs for the first time since 2008.

Coach Gary Mauldin:

“In his first year as our place kicker Ivan led the league in scoring for a kicker, oftentimes against some challenging circumstances, but he kept his cool and would put it right through the uprights. As any coach will tell you, many games will come down to a point or two, it sure was a blessing to have him back there cool as can be and with two more years left in his high school career the future looks bright.”
