Rori Martinez

YC junior forward

The lowdown:

Rori was a pivotal asset in the Shamrocks going 16-3 in AIA play and winning the 3A Metro West region title. The junior forward had success offensively, averaging eight points per game, but she really showed up on the defensive end of the floor, as she was named the region’s Defensive Player of the Year. Rori logged six double-digit rebound performances (averaging 7.5 RPG) and finished the year with 53 blocks (3.1 per game). Coach Bob McGalliard:

“Rori is an outstanding all-around basketball player. She can score inside or take her defender out on the perimeter and make a jump shot. At the defensive end, she is a great on-ball defender and is always in great position to give help whether it is from the weak side or sliding over to block a shot. Her anticipation in our press has led to many steals and transition baskets for her teammates. Rebounding is a key ingredient to winning basketball games and Rori is an outstanding rebounder on both ends of the court.”
