The lowdown:

Matthew consistently proved he was one of the top-five boys runners in the area, most notably at sectionals, where his time of 17:41 ranked third-fastest among local runners. He finished 30th at sectionals, just missing out on qualifying for the Division I state meet. He also registered a fifth-place finish at districts. He set a 5-kilometer PR of 17:17 at Nike Desert Twilight.
