Angelique Armijo

Gila Ridge senior

The lowdown:

Angelique, who was new to Yuma for her senior year, established herself locally by winning the Yuma Union High School District meet in a personalbest 5-kilometer time of 19:34, which was roughly a minute faster than anybody else in the field. The following week she took second at the Division II Section III meet, and then capped her season with a 13th-place showing at the Division II state meet.

Coach Caleb VanderBaan:

“Angelique runs with a poise and confidence that is rare for high school runners. Her ability to run smart and patient, while also challenging herself on a daily basis, were key to her successes this year.”
